Amongst other worlds of mine (2023)

In this work, I explore the interconnectedness of relationships and community. Even if you may not know someone personally, you are, in a way, connected with them through others. This web of connections and people reminds us that we are not alone, and reclaim the need for care in social settings.

Every ceramic statue’s head represents a person that is close/dear to the artist, family, friends on- and offline, and loved ones. I asked the people I love to draw themselves as a shape that they find represents them. These drawings were then made into ceramic statues. The colours and textures I used to glaze them reflect how I see these people in my mind, resulting in a big range of different sculptures.

The ceramic statues can be interlocked and moved around in different ways. Thanks to the reflection of the mirror the works feel even more like a close knitted community. When the public looks at the work and in the mirror, they see not only themselves in the reflection, but also the ceramic statues. Many may not know these people I deeply care for but they may see themselves reflected in the colours and shapes of them. In a way, the spectator becomes a part of this community when they immerse themself into the reflection
