Nothing is scary if there is a gentle hand to guide us through it.

Ro Smit creates art that provides the softness necessary to face the hardships of the world, even when it seems that the world itself is ending. By tapping into their own perspective as a queer artist, they make pieces that inspire togetherness, community, and hope. Through challenging the symbols of love, exploring care, investigating the breath and how it ties to community, and creating opportunities for togetherness, Ro guides their public in questioning what it means to care at the end of the world.

The Barattolo project

Ro Smit is also one of the team members of the Barattolo project.

We are a group of individuals in different fields (Fine Arts, Gender & Diversity, and IT & Telecommunications) but brought together by our shared love for creativity and community. The idea of creating this project came in summer 2021 from Irene, Giordano, and Jolanda, who grew up on a farm in Tuscany and who wished to bring new life to their childhood home by creating something that would allow independent artists to gather in community at low prices and while being able to expand their practice through horizontal knowledge sharing. We found that our friends jumped on board with this idea right away, putting their energies and resources into it, and bringing all their insights with them, effectively allowing this project to start. And here we are, a few months later getting ready for our first festival.
